National Theatre relaunches!

11 June 2009 Posted by Brian

The National Theatre website relaunches. New design, new functionality and a new era for the National Theatre.

The latest iteration pulls together the many strands of the NT, moving towards a purposefully succinct brand.

Working closely with NT's designers and web team, Tincan have helped produce a fantastic site which we hope will enhance the Theatre's web presence.

This (long) quote from Christopher Jones (Information Architect @ the NT) puts the project into context:

"The National Theatre launched its new website in early June this year. It represented the first phase of a project that aims to integrate rich media throughout the website, showcase content that opens up the theatre-making process, develop a new platform for user engagement and provide an improved user experience. The project also intends to increase the interaction between the website and Tessitura, our ticketing/CRM system.

"The project saw the National working closely with Tincan (who were retained as our web developers after an extensive re-tendering process), from initial scoping, through development to launch. The process saw Tincan provide project management, detailed user profiling and audience research, development of xml feeds into flash applications, support for user engagement, and integration of the Tessitura web API into their web CMS and email system.

"The extent of the project required input from several different departments within the NT, and Tincan co-ordinated the project extremely well, drawing praise from everyone involved, for their ability to understand our specific requirements and develop appropriate solutions.

"The launch has been very successful, with all stakeholders delighted with the results, and positive feedback from our users. They did all this whilst also supporting development of our NT Live, Linbury Prize and Watch This Space microsites, and coping with the project go live date being brought forward by more than two weeks."
