AMA Conference, Glasgow

26 July 2011

We had a very inspiring time at the AMA Conference in Glasgow recently. A consistent thread throughout the conference was user experience - the emphasis on creating real value through experience. This resonates with the view that whilst traditionally marketing was all about the 'last mile', now it needs to be the whole relationship end-to-end. More thoughts on AMA Conference and user experience from Ben's blog post.

High Performance for High Volumes

3 December 2010

Speed and efficiency are critical when it comes to content delivery. It's common sense, a fast loading website increases a visitors positive experience and will engender greater loyalty and the prospect of return visits.

However, good speed and performance isn't enough in itself - it's most critical when volumes are high. A fast site when visitor traffic numbers are low or just about average is all well and good but if during a 1-2 day spike upwards of 70-80% of your monthly visitors hit your website and your website becomes a sloth moving through treacle ... your audience will not be happy bunnies. Frustration will lead to lost audience, lost leads and lost opportunities.

So, ensuring your users are getting a better than acceptable experience when visting your website at all times is vital. At Tincan we specialise in providing web solutions that do just that, from the smallest to the largest, high performance under high volume is a core aspect to our work. For example, the construction of the Webbler means that Tincan websites such as the National Theatre are amongst the fastest websites in the world even when under extreme volumes of traffic and demand.
